You Can Win Court’s Paycheck!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Today I was visiting other sites on my blogroll and when I got to CourtneyTuttle.com by Court, I found an awesome offer I couldn’t resist. Court is offering his entire paycheck for the month of May if you can guess within one dollar of how much it will be! The lucky winner will get the earnings through Paypal on the first day of June.

Do you want to try and win Court’s paycheck? I sure do! Here are the rules:

- Create a post on your blog, copy these rules and paste them into the post.
- Make a guess! Link to my homepage with the text ‘make money online $1.00′, replacing the $1.00 with the amount of your guess. Example:
make money online $100.56.
- Leave
this link to the rules page intact.
- Use my contact page to confirm your entry by letting me know (make sure to include the URL of your post)! I will find most of them, but let me know to make sure!

Special Rule Through 5/20/2007
If you make your guess before midnight, MDT on 5/20/2007, I will allow you to make 2 guesses. If you want to make 2 guesses, you’ll have to make 2 links. You still only need to make 1 post. If you want to guess twice do it soon!, after 5/20 you will only be able to guess once.

This post is being created on 5/19/2007, which is before midnight of 5/20/2007, so I am able to make two guesses! I really have no clue whatsoever how much money Court is going to make in this month of May, but it’s worth a shot. Who knows? Maybe I’ll win Court’s paycheck! ;) MY GUESSES ARE:

make money online $354.54

make money online $373.29

Hurry and join Court’s contest now, because if you post before midnight, MDT on 5/20/2007, you can make two guesses and have a better chance of winning! After that, you’ve got one guess only.

My Reasons for Blogging - Were you Tagged?

I’ve been tagged by Rob at The Million Dollar Experiment Down Under, and I am supposed to list five reasons for why I blog. If you get tagged like this, you’re supposed to write an introduction and link back to who tagged you, and then list your five reasons as to why you blog. Then you choose five people and tag them (and drop a comment on their blog letting them know they were tagged)! This is pretty awesome because not only is it easy content and gives a little more info about you, but you get linkbacks when the people you tag write their post! Anyway…

1.) To occupy myself and keep me out of trouble. ;) Blogging is a whole lot of fun for me. I’ve always been making my own websites and been into internet stuff for years now. A couple years ago I had a personal diary on Livejournal but now I’m into blogging full force on many different topics. It’s fun, even if I do waste too much time doing this!

2.) To make some cash - who wouldn’t want that? I’d have my own websites or blogs even if there was no profit, but once I realized I could make some pocket change online, that made blogging all the better! A little extra money never hurts.

3.) To connect with some really awesome people. Blogging is definitely not a solo act - it’s more of a community thing involving a lot of people! I’ve met some nice guys and gals and if it weren’t for blogging I’d never have even known them. It’s important to establish relationships with other bloggers.

4.) Sometimes I just like to hear myself “talk”! Okay, fine, I admit it. Sometimes I just get the urge to get online and type - whether it be email, a new post, or whatever. I guess I really like to hear myself “talk”. Maybe I always need to know I’m saying something so I can make sure I’m still alive. ;)

5. Why not? So many “I blog because…” reasons I could list, but I can only choose five. With blogging, everyone benefits. I can entertain myself, make some money, meet new people, learn new things, interest myself, etc. Other bloggers help each other all the time with link love and such. And then the readers hopefully always enjoy the blogs they keep an eye on! Blogging is just good for the soul.

Now for the tricky part… I tag Blog to Profit, My Highly Recommended Business Opportunities, Mr. Gary Lee, Earn Online Money, and Me and My Drum. I’d also like to tag a sixth, The Network Marketing Blog.

Also, a big happy Mother’s Day wish to all the moms out there!

Showcase Your Best Posts

Trophies and Awards Showcase Assuming you’re a blogger like me, let’s say you just wrote a fantastic post, one of the best you’ve ever written. Maybe it’s one of those long ones that took you many hours to think of and compose. Maybe it’s a post that is really well worded and just all around well written. Or maybe it’s just a post that is on a topic everyone is interested in, and it seems to be quite popular. But what happens when you write more posts and then this awesome one disappears from the first page and out of your visitors’ view? Surely there can be something you can do so all that hard work won’t go to waste - right?

Yes! Look up at the very top of the right sidebar and you’ll see the title “Featured Posts”. Not only do I use this for showing off my best posts that have vanished from the main page, but I also use it to show off random posts that need a little more attention. Kumiko has a showcase for her top five posts as well - her five most profitable posts. Another thing you can do is link to related posts or “Other articles you may be interested in” in the bottom of each new post you make. This is also great for drawing attention!

So if some of your posts aren’t getting the attention and spotlight they deserve, don’t let your hard work go down the drain! Showcasing is easy. You can showcase your most profitables, like Kumiko did. You can show off the most popular posts. You can do a random featuring, like me, where you put up a little of everything. You can do your spotlighting in the sidebar or in posts. Not only will your visitors be happy because you’re providing them with some content they’ve probably not seen before, but you’re getting your work out there, and that’s a great thing! So go on and showcase your blogging.

Is there more I can do to draw attention to posts I want people to see? Yes! After you’ve added your “showcase”, and you still want people to see certain posts, there are still more things you can do. I won’t go into great detail, but here are some ideas:

1. Comment on other posts of the same topic, and subtly link to your related post.
2. Put some keywords (don’t stuff!) in your post so it can be found easier on search engines.
3. Encourage others to Digg your post by putting a button at the bottom.

There’s so much more you can do to draw attention to your works of art, but I think I’ve given you enough help and inspiration. So now - be sure to check out my featured posts! They’re ones that need attention, awesome ones, popular ones, and whatever I decide to randomly include. That’s the awesome part of blogging - you can do whatever you want with it. So happy blogging and have a great day! ;)

As a quick note - I am sorry for the big gap of no posting. I really do apologize for that, but it’s going to happen again as well. It’s a really busy time for me and a time where I wish I had Wordpress for the timestamp feature. From Wednesday to Friday I was on a retreat, and next Tuesday I will be leaving for another trip and not getting back until Friday. There will be no posts in that time as well. I apologize and promise I’ll make up for it all by the end of May!

They’ve Got the Skinny on Blog Directories

Blogskinny.com is a blog directory I’ve been with for some time. I’ve always enjoyed the amount of traffic they’ve brought me, and I love the daily traffic reports they send me through email. Blogskinny brings a unique touch to directories - but now, they’re a billion times better!

A couple days ago I got an email telling me Blogskinny had composed a new list of directories. As I type, it currently lists 177 directories, and it’s constantly growing. Once again, they bring an unbelievably unique touch to this list.

First, you should register your blog with Blogskinny. Your blog will get decent exposure and a fair amount of traffic. After you’re all signed up, you can put up the “vote for me” button on your blog (look to the sidebar to see mine). Then, you can check out the whole list of directories and everytime you view a new directory, Blogskinny will save which ones you’ve seen already and which ones you haven’t. This is SO handy, because a lot of the time I forget!

And when you suggest a new directory that Blogskinny doesn’t have, you get 1,000 free impressions (views for people to see your blog). And there are countless other ways to get free impression credits, and I’m definitely going to try and take use of all of them!

This list of directories is the best I’ve seen. I get my blog more exposure while earning impressions on Blogskinny for even MORE exposure. It’s completely brilliant! So check out the blog directory listings today.

Technorati "Authority" Ranking System

You might have already heard about this from some other blog or even seen it for yourself, but in case you haven’t I’m here to tell you about Technorati’s new “Authority” way of ranking. I in fact was on Technorati yesterday, and when I refreshed the page, I noticed this change. I meant to post about it then, but I got a little sidetracked. Anyway..

On Technorati it used to say “__ links from __ blogs”, and basically they used to track incoming links. But now, that is replaced with the “Authority”. I don’t notice much of a difference yet; the numbers are still the same. But maybe there will be future changes to the “Authority” and different ways our blogs are ranked. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Also, there has been another change. There is like a profile page for every blog. Here is Super Blogging’s. This includes fans of the blog, which are everyone that favorited it, latest posts, top tags, etc. there are also “Blog Reactions”, which is pretty much what everyone else is saying about the blog.

I’m not sure whether these are all the changes and updates we’re going to see, or if Technorati has more in store for us. I can’t wait to see if anything new develops out of the “Authority” ranking or the new pages!
