When it Comes to Blogging, Don’t Discard a Single Idea

I confess, I used to have a huge problem with being so picky and hard on myself about everything. If I had an idea about a post I could make, over half the time I’d end up criticizing myself and giving reasons why the post wouldn’t work out (when it really would). I’d tell myself, “Oh, it’s too far off topic” or, “It doesn’t apply to the majority” and, “It’s just stupid”. Some of my ideas really wouldn’t have been so bad, but I tossed them out, and that caused me to go plenty of days without a single post.

Blogging is a very flexible job. Even more, it’s a job that YOU control. You’re the boss and if you have a good topic for a post, hold onto it. Even if you decide not to make the post right away (or even never, for whatever reason), you should create a draft and save it so you’ll remember the idea. Or you can have a document on the computer storing your post ideas, or even a notebook. Then if you go back and browse through your old stuff, you might decide to post one of them, or maybe one will inspire you to do something even better.

I used to always think a post had to pertain to every single visitor, and that it had to be an article exactly on my topic: blogging and making money online. I would never have posted about something like MyCoolButton, like I did a few days ago, even though it was still pretty much in my general area. I also thought I had to be strictly on business and could never talk about myself. But if that’s how my blog still went today, I’d surely have zero daily viewers. No one always wants to see the same old thing!

I’m not telling you to post every little thing you come up with, and to post things that don’t relate to your blog at all anytime. But I am saying that you don’t need to criticize everything you do, and if you have an idea, save it somewhere for future reference. Trust me, whether you decide to make a post about the topic in just a few days or you come across it in a few weeks, it comes in handy!
