Wordpress Plugin: Brian’s Threaded Comments

June 8, 2007

I just got a new plugin, and it’s called Brian’s Threaded Comments. Usually when a post has comments from numerous people and I reply, I have to address those people by name and reply all in one comment. With Brian’s Threaded Comments, I can reply directly, and my response will appear right under your comment you so won’t have to search :)

This plugin also allows more discussion throughout the comments, since you can basically comment on other people’s comments! I’ve seen threaded (aka nested) comments on other blogs before, and they’ve proved to be a big success and help.

One thing I don’t like is that when I replaced my usual comments.php file with the new one, it changed how my ‘leave a comment’ area looks. Of course, it’s not such a big deal, but the worst part is that now I have to sign in and leave my name and email with every comment. I used to never have to sign in, as it recognized me as the blog owner. I wonder if when I get my top commentators plugin that this will make any difference… ANYWAY -

If you’d liked to try this out and see it in action, just leave some comments ;) Or, if you’d like to download this plugin for your own Wordpress blog, click here.

Testing, one two three, testing ;)

    Is the sky blue?

Yes, the sky is blue, unless it’s gray. Or black.

Cool. Although here in England the sky is definitely grey today.

hmm… I approved the comment reply by Tejvan Net Writing but it’s not showing up. Is it working for anyone else? I sense a problem… For me it just shows a big blank space where the response should be.

Actually, if you are registered on the blog you can leave those three fields blank.

You can modify this comments.php so that it matches your original theme.

Yes, I found out that I could leave the three fields blank a while back, and now I’m also getting used to the way the comments section looks now and I don’t need to modify it. The main problem for me now though, is when someone replies to a reply, it just shows a big empty space where that reply should go. Which doesn’t make sense because I have comments set to nest on three levels.
