Need Free Images for Your Blog Posts?

July 3, 2007

Colorful Keys Lined Up Well-placed images in your blog posts draw the attention of your readers and make you look professional. Placing too many images is just as bad as placing too few (I’m worse with the latter). If your post is short, you’ll probably need no more than one picture, and sometimes none is fine. If you have a very long post, you can break it up and make it more interesting and less boring for your readers by inserting a couple of images.

But where do you get those images?

Sure, you can find something off Google Images. But you don’t really own those pictures. To avoid all trouble, it’s best if you get free pictures from stock photography indexes. The images are usually professional looking and top quality. Some of them you can pay for, but many are free. And using the free images from stock photography is completely fine. You will never run into trouble because you don’t own the picture and have the rights to it. They’re yours to use!

The two I recommend are:

Stock.Xchng, which is all free image stock photography. None of the selections you have to pay for, and it’s easy to find what you’re looking for.

Index Stock Imagery. Some you pay for, and some are free. They have a lot to choose from!

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy spicing up your blog with some fantastic pictures! Did I mention that the picture of the keys you see above was absolutely free and perfect for to me to use?

Thanks for some great information. At one time, I was really frustrated trying to find some free photos.

Yes, the first one I listed is probably my favorite. The second is harder to search through and more of the images cost and sometimes it’s hard to tell which ones are free and which ones aren’t, until you find the big watermark on it.

Agreed, it can be hard to always find some images you can use!

Hopefully I’m going to start putting more images in my posts. This blog has gotten so bland, so I just need to add some photos here and there from now on out and maybe it’ll look better.

@Satya N - I’m glad you like the Pop Blue theme, it is one of my very favorites! I took a look at your blog and did notice, however, that the content is on the left and two columns on the far right, and there are strange lines in between. The spacing is somehow off. Just thought I’d let you know, otherwise it looks nice. :)
