Super Blogging is a DoFollow Blog!
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I’ve been meaning to do this for some time now and I finally put off the procrastination. Super Blogging is now a dofollow blog! I have another thing to mark off my list of to-dos after installing this plugin.
What is dofollow?
Basically it is the opposite of nofollow. If links have “rel=nofollow” in them, the link will not be counted by Technorati or Google. Links that are follow and nofollow both look the same, but they are treated differently. The nofollow one doesn’t count, you might say. It won’t improve your rankings and you won’t get PageRank juice from it.
Automatically this blog sets a nofollow command to all the links in the comments. If you’ve left a comment on this blog, and put in your website address, it was automatically set as a nofollow. But not anymore! Read on…
What does installing this plugin have to do with anything?
Now that I have installed the dofollow plugin, the links to your website on the comments you leave will count! The dofollow plugin removes the nofollow command from the links in the comments. Now if you comment on this blog, you will receive a link that is scored with Technorati and Google and improves your rankings.
Why did you install the dofollow plugin?
It is a great way to reward my commentators. Part of running a good blog is having comments. For everyone who comments on this blog, I want to give a little something back. Of course, I want to reward people who leave thoughtful comments valuable to the discussion, not spam. If your comment is not relevant to anything or is just plain spam I promise you it will be deleted.
So if nothing else encourages you to get active in the community, I hope this does! Now if you comment and leave your thoughts on a post or a discussion, you will receive a link back for it. Thank you to all of my commentators!
If you want to take a look at the plugin or get it for your own blog, it can be found here.

Wow! I really like this concept! I’m curious though, if there is a way to use this Do Follow if you don’t use wordpress. ??? I still haven’t figured out wordpress, but it’s on my To-Do list.

Lin,
Using Wordpress and simply getting the plugin is much easier, so if you ever able to switch to Wordpress then I recommend it!
However, it can be done otherwise. Links that include rel=”nofollow” make the link NoFollow - the opposite of what you’d be going for. So what you would need to do is edit your template/HTML and remove the nofollow from where you don’t want it. I’ve never done this before (all I’ve used for DoFollowing is the plugin), but I’m pretty sure it will work out if done correctly.
If you need any help, just let me know and I’ll do my best. Contact me through the form, if need be. Good luck!

Lin,
I’m glad you could find it! Happy blogging

Awesome - I had been using a different dofollow and the configuration was confusing so I could never tell if it was really removing nofollow or not.
This one just works, without any additional config. Perfect.
I also like that you advertise that you’re a dofollow site - I might do the same on mine.
Cheers!

@Heath - Glad that you have one that works for you now!
I’ve found that mentioning that a blog is DoFollow encourages people to comment a lot more than they normally would. Everybody likes a free link!
Good luck, and have a great weekend.

Its ironic that many bloggers talk about this but then they actually use no follow.

@Bape - I’ve come across a few, but luckily not too many. Sometimes I’ll find a blog where in the past they’ve claimed to use DoFollow, and then at some point later on they took it off. That’s the case of most blogs I know of. However, they aren’t technically lying, just forgetful not to update that their DoFollow status is no more.
However, you are correct. Many bloggers claim to use DoFollow to up their comment counts and more.

Let me test this out. Dofollow should appear when I enter in my Portland wedding website
Best Portland Wedding
Did it work?
10. October 2007 at 13:42
@David - DoFollow does not “appear”, as it is a property you cannot see. If I didn’t use DoFollow all the links in comments would have NoFollow properties, which you could see by viewing the page source. But since I use the DoFollow plugin, the NoFollow property is eliminated which means your links count with Google. But, yes, your link is DoFollow. If you had entered it in the comment form, then your name, David, would have linked to the site. Either way works. But yes, you got a link that counts.

wow…thanks a lot on this info. This is what I have been looking for and has not found it until now. Hope this is not going to be illegal, i mean ban by google? sorry for my poor knowledge on this internet stuffs
14. October 2007 at 15:56
@Chinnee - Of course this is not illegal with Google! Links being NoFollow and DoFollow are just normal properties to use. If a person is linking to a site they don’t approve of, they would most likely use NoFollow so they don’t share PageRank and give them link juice. But in comments, I have DoFollow on the links so I can thank my commentators for leaving their thoughts. This is 100% guaranteed not bad with Google. It is a property telling if the links count with the search engines, etc. or not.
Sorry if I can’t explain it a lot better than I did. If you have anymore questions, just ask and I’ll help if I can.
