It's unattractive and a new blog will make hardly any money with it. Advertise your affiliate links, etc. instead! But once you're capable of getting people to buy links and ad spots on your site, then definitely do out with the Adsense in your sidebars and layouts. You could better use and monetize that space by selling it to your readers and advertisers.
