A Huge Thank You to My Sponsors!

September 21, 2007

Exactly a month ago, August 21, I ran my first batch of link sales where each link cost $5. The low price was for multiple reasons - it was the first time I’d ever sold text link ads, I wanted to help some other deserving bloggers out there without requiring them to spend a fortune, and besides all of that this blog still doesn’t have PageRank thanks to our domain switch and the very belated update. But now the month has ended and it’s time for me to give a HUGE thank to you and a permanent link to my sponsors, who were the first advertisers here on Super Blogging. Drumroll please…

They’re all great blogs and I highly recommend you checking out each one of them and consider subscribing so you can get their great content delivered to you right when it’s posted.

To my sponsors: I hope the traffic and exposure you received was worth the five dollars. Please leave a comment or use the contact form and let me know of the results if you have the time, and if you have any suggestions for how future link sales could be improved.

Thank you! :)

Don’t Be Your Own Worst Blogging Critic

September 20, 2007

I think it’s important to recognize your blogging mistakes and not be too slack with yourself. If you mess up you should try to correct your wrongs or at least realize what you did. I know that you should set goals for yourself and follow through with them. I know you shouldn’t be too lenient, but what about being too tough? Is it possible to be your own worst blogging critic?

Don’t Beat Yourself Up Over Blogging

Let’s face it. All of us have the good days, and all of us have the bad days. But it’s the bad days most of us are more concerned with. What exactly could a bad day entail? It might involve writer’s block, making a lot of mistakes, or not producing as good quality of posts. It could even be a decent decrease in traffic or RSS readership. You might think it’s just you, but don’t worry, all bloggers go through it.

There are times when I’m having one of those bad days, and I feel like everything is all my fault. Instantly I jump on myself, saying if I did one thing or another differently things would be going better. But you know what? Not only does being your own worst critic not help at all, but it makes things worse.

Succeeding Starts With Believing

If you want others to believe in you, how are they going to if you don’t even believe in yourself a lot of the time? Succeeding starts with believing! You have to remember that sometimes things just happen, and none of us can be perfect, not even 1% of the time. If you make mistakes it IS good to recognize and do your personal best to fix them, but it’s not necessary to beat yourself up or be your own worst critic.

There are going to be other people out there, not only in blogging but in life as well, that are you going to do their best to bring you down for whatever reason. So be there for yourself and build yourself up! If you want to succeed, you’ve got to believe, work hard, and not tear yourself down. You’re never going to the best at everything. There’s always going to be someone who is a better writer than you or is better at building linkbait and generating traffic. And that’s not your fault, so don’t stress over it. Instead, focus on being a better blogger and a better person.

If you’re wondering why I’m writing this, it’s because I go through it too. I don’t beat myself up, but sometimes I feel down in the dumps or maybe a little ashamed because this blog hasn’t gone as far as it should in the amount of time it’s been up and running. I do know that I can always do better, but I’m not doing that bad to be honest with you. So do your best, focus on the ups and not the downs, and work on doing better and improving. Set goals for yourself and strive to reach them. But if things don’t always go as planned, remember: that’s how life works. Be your own #1 fan. :)

The More You Write, the Better Your Writing Gets

September 17, 2007

Typing Hands OnlineThis one should be obvious, but I’m not letting it go without discussing it.

When I first started blogging, I would go back on my posts and find dozens of mistakes. Spelling and grammatical errors, all sorts of things. And apart from that, my writing wasn’t organized and put together very well. Sometimes I would word sentences in ways that they wouldn’t make sense, and I couldn’t get out what I wanted to say clearly enough. In my early times of blogging, it was easy to be ashamed of some of my posts.

But now, I notice that my writing is a lot better than it was an approximate six months ago. When I reread my posts to double check for typos and mistakes, I don’t find nearly as many things as I used to. Now, instead of dozens of errors, there are just a couple, if even that. Besides from not making so many typos, my sentences and writing in general are much stronger than before.

The more you write, the better your writing gets.

If you’re new at blogging or are still having a lot of trouble with your articles, don’t just give up and quit. Becoming good at something takes time, a lot more than you may think. So keep pulling through! As the months pass you will notice that your writing will become clearer and easier to comprehend, your vocabulary will improve, and you won’t make grammatical mistakes as often as you used to.

Practice makes perfect, so keep working at it. Continue writing daily and in no time you will notice the improvement! It only goes up from here.

Troubles (Please Bear with Me)!

September 16, 2007

Well, it’s been a busy few days (longer than that, to be honest). Over a week ago Firefox deleted all of my bookmarks, which contained a lot of important saved information, sites, tools, articles, and more. I discovered that not soon enough, and it was too late to recover all of my bookmarks. Firefox does five backups a day, and they’re quickly replaced by new backups. I didn’t realize soon enough to recover one of the five, so I lost it all. That was the first downfall.

The following day, my laptop broke. Again. There’s something wrong with it, and I can assure you it’s not my fault. Heh. When it’s plugged in the light is supposed to come on, the screen is supposed to be brighter, and it’s supposed to charge. Most of you should know how a laptop is supposed to act when it’s plugged into an outlet. Anyway, it acts like it’s NOT plugged in. It won’t charge and lives off its battery life. And since it won’t charge, when it runs out of battery and dies, I can’t even turn it on again. It did this a few months ago, we took it and got it fixed, and guess what? It’s doing it again. The stupid computer store doesn’t open up until Tuesday morning, so we have to wait that long. For now, I’m using a different computer, but I hardly have any time that I’m allowed to access it.

I’ve been working so hard lately on trying to up my traffic and write good, new quality content, but you’re going to have to bear with me. At the rate I’m going, some days I might have no computer access and some days I might have an hour or two. And if you know me that’s certainly not a lot. Hopefully we’ll take my laptop on Tuesday morning and it’ll be fixed soon. Hopefully.

Besides that, I want to buy the new Sims 2 expansion pack, Bon Voyage, and get to playing!

But even more, I think I just need a new computer. I don’t know what’s wrong with this one but something tells me if we are able to get it fixed, it will only continue to keep messing up. Besides, I wouldn’t mind a new one. Maybe it’s time… :)

I’ll stop blabbering and have some mercy on you. Basically, it’s a lot tougher to keep up with this blog right now and I hope you won’t punish me and abandon me. I’m doing the best I can. On top of losing all my bookmarks and my laptop breaking, I have writer’s block, and I’m not even sure if my own advice will get me through it. Wish me luck, and now it’s your turn to have some mercy on ME! Please?

If you’d really like to give me a helping hand, and help yourself out in the process (you can reach new potential readers, get backlinks, and drive traffic), consider guest blogging?
