A New Look: Pop Blue Tweaked
October 11, 2007
That’s right, Super Blogging has a new look (in case you didn’t notice)! For hours today I’ve been trying different free themes and tweaking them, so if you’ve been seeing things moving around over here you’re not going crazy. ;) The theme I settled with on this blog is called Pop Blue and it’s a free one that anyone can use. I edited some of the coding to suit this blog and my own interests, however. I also made the sidebar bigger to optimize it for advertising, but more on that later.
I’ve never been too good with all the technical stuff or coding. I probably could be, but I’ve never tried. All I’ve ever known is easy HTML and CSS, and seeing so much coding in so many files just intimidates me. I decided, however, that if I was going to be a decent blogger I needed to stop using plain old free themes and start adding some of my own customization. It was slow going but I’m proud to say I understand a lot more about the coding of blogs now that the day is done. I’m hoping that in the near future I can continue to tweak this theme to my liking. Whenever I’m not feeling lazy I might change the color scheme, even though the default one is pretty nice.
Now onto the advertising spots that are now open. I’ve been doing a lot of work and I figured it’s time I start monetizing this blog the right way. So now I’m selling ten text link ads and four 125×125 buttons in the sidebar, and I’m also doing reviews. Please see the Super Blogging advertise page if you would like to consider purchasing an ad spot for your site, without paying any ridiculous costs. Keep your eyes peeled because I’m hoping to get out more advertising opportunities soon if these current ones turn out to be a success.
So I’m hoping that everyone likes this new theme as much as I do. Please share any feedback or suggestions you might have, because I’m all ears!

Got something to say?

I like the new theme. It looks great and I guess it will help you heaps in monetizing your blog in a better way!
I loved your old theme so I am a bit biased.. :)
Nice header graphic, though! ;)
Cheers,
Snoskred
I think it looks nice. I’m struggling with the coding on my blogs, too . . . Some basic HTML I can do, but when it gets more complicated than that, my head spins around.
Looks great! Nice work! I´m changing mine too soon. I´m tired of being a Shepard now :) haha
@Sandra - Thank you, I’m hoping it will! :)
@Snoskred - I like that one as well but I think this one suits me better. Besides, I can never keep one layout too long. Hehe, thank you!
@Deb - Thanks. Yes, so much coding gets awfully confusing. I had to use Google a lot to help me with some issues.
@Linda - Thank you, and good luck with your layout change - your current one is really cute though! :)
Looks good Tay! What made you decide to change?
Nice new design, however I noticed one thing:
Is your logo image (superblogging.png) supposed to be over the top of your blue nav bar? Yes, it is only about 9 or 10 pixels, but it is noticeable.
I hope this helps, Nathan
@Steven - Thank you! I changed because:
a) I was getting sick of the old theme,
b) I wanted a theme where the sidebar blends in better,
c) I wanted something crisp,
d) I wanted to better monetize this blog.
I’ve also always loved Pop Blue but never had the heart to edit it to my liking, but I finally have. :)
@Nathan - I noticed that as well, and no, it’s not supposed to be like that. I’ll try to fix that soon, thanks. :D
It looks superb, and I bet that you have a definite feeling of pride knowing that you did the modifications on your own; I know that when I got done with doing the changes on my theme’s look, I was practically giddy. :)
Great work ;)

PS - I noticed that your Alexa widget isn’t showing the data for your site - I’ve had the same issue with my site today…
@Sephyroth - Thank you so much! :D Yes, to be honest I am a little proud even if I didn’t make a lot of huge changes, just littler things all over the place. I was surprised I even understood some things half the time!
Yes, I was also wondering what’s up with the Alexa widgets. I hope that whatever it is, it’s fixed soon.
Thanks again for your nice comments. :)
