Noddegamra,

Wow, that's amazing! 10,000 unique visitors in the first week alone is pretty stunning. I've always known that having a blog over a website has its benefits, especially in the traffic department, but your case is a great example. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!

I moved from a website format to a blogging one at the start of October this year. It gave me a HUGE boost in traffic, gaining over 10k unique visitors in the first week. Infact, my monthly averages are now around 40k+ per month, whereas before they were about 8k.

However, sometimes I get loads of traffic and others very little. I don't get quite as much comments as I used to. I still think I have a lot of learning to do...

@Heath - Thanks for sharing your blogging experiences! I'm like you - I love to write and blog - it is a passion. I like writing about what interests me but I also like rankings and such because it is a measure of how well I'm doing, and of course that is always a bonus.

I recommend StumbleUpon as well. In the past it has brought me huge traffic spikes and it's also a great thing to use when I'm bored - I can just spend all day stumbling (not very productive, but fun nonetheless). :D

@Forrest - Thanks for leaving a comment. I'm flattered that you read what I write and I hope some of it helps you out. Yes, sometimes what a blogger has to do is time consuming but it's all a part of being successful. If you slack in the beginning, you'll just end up spending more time correcting things in the end. :)

All of a few months ... I started at the end of July, and to date probably have 25 posts to my name.

I've actually been following some of the advice you've given in another post, about how not to tick your readers off ... particularly about quality writing. It's time consuming to write well, to match text to images to create a story instead of just a page ... but I think it works out better in the end.

I really can not remember when I started, but it has been several years, both externally (personal blog), and within my company on our internal blogging environment. Over the last 6-7 months, I have also started blogging on the company's external blog environment.

It has been a challenge to keep track, because I blog about different topics in each of the three places. Some are more technical and work related, while others are frivolous and playful about a recent trip I might have gone on.

I just like to write about things that both interest me, and hopefully others (for example, I post about American Idol every year - which seems to draw a lot of attention). Frankly, I don't care about google page rank for myself. I'm not blogging for profit, I'm blogging because I'm a writer, and I love to do it. It's a creative outlet for me, and part of my job deals with social media, so it's a way for me to stay in touch with the world.

One great tool I've found is StumbleUpon, (and I blogged about this on our corporate blog - you can read it here). It's an amazing step at taking social networking directly into the browser, and I highly recommend it.

Anyway, that's enough for now. Cheers everyone!

@Digital Photography - Wow, that's fantastic! You're definitely doing a great job running your blog. :D

@Drew - The Photo-a-Day project sounds very interesting, and reaching 1,000 photos most certainly does deserve some big celebration! You have some great blogs and you've done well with them.

@Minyak Lintah - Always have faith and never give up! Plan a weekly schedule for what you're going to write each day, and also set aside days for gaining traffic and backlinks, where your work focuses primarily on that task. It helps get a lot done! :)

I've been blogging for almost a year but i haven't find any success yet. I only receive adsense money after 6 month of blogging :) That's not that bad wasn't it? Haha.. Maybe my style of writing is not good enough.

I've been blogging since 2005. I was using AOL Journals at first. I wasn't really ever into making money through blogging though. I just blogged to blog. Still do for the most part.

I started Blogging in December of 2004. I had a blog on blogger and was using blogspot plus. Many people probably won't know what that is all about but it was blogger's paid service. I joined it and then it went to being free. I started my blog as a way for friends and family to keep in touch with and read about my adventures when I traveled all over the country.

Since that time I created 6 blogs
http://www.benspark.com
http://benspark.blogspot.com
http://www.wiredkayaker.com
http://www.readtomedad.com
http://flat-water.blogspot.com
http://www.googleisnotgod.com

I maintain each one and try to update each daily, doesn't always happen but I try. I don't think I celebrated any major milestones however I am coming up on one fairly soon. I've been taking a photo-A-Day for nearly 3 years and I am about 36 photos away from 1000 photos. I will have to do something big at that point.

Most of my blogs are monetized, a couple are on blogger, some are on self hosted sites and some use Payu2blog and some payperpost. I had some decent pageranks before Google smacked me 4s and 5s. Some still have rank and some do not. I'm not worried about that. Content is the most important thing to me.
