CashQuests.com Sold for $15,000!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I’ve been reading CashQuests.com now for many, many months. It was one of the first make money online sites I ever came across, back in the very beginning of 2007.

I have always loved and appreciated Kumiko’s style of writing. She has a very direct and blunt approach that so many people just couldn’t resist. In fact, I included her in my article titled 3 Bloggers You Should Strive To Be More Like because she speaks her mind and that’s a good quality to have!

Now I have noticed that CashQuests.com just recently sold for $15,000. That is such a fantastic price to receive for a site! Of course, CashQuests.com is very valuable and has a lot of great content and a good reputation.

I think how Kumiko branded her blog was magnificent. At some point in the future, I plan to start new blogs that will be intended for selling (because I doubt I will sell this one). Hopefully I can be a great online money maker like Kumiko is - she was a genius from the start, and you could learn a lot from her!

Flameless, Accident-Free Candles For The Holidays

Since the holidays are quickly approaching, I thought I’d take a break from the norm and tell you all about some great flameless candles from FlamelessCandles.net. For my family, Thanksgiving and Christmas are a time for everyone to get together. But with little kids and pets running all over the place, a candle could easily be knocked over and catch fire.

However, there’s an easy solution. You can get all sorts of different kinds of candles, including a flameless window candle, and never have to worry about accidents. FlamelessCandles.net sells candles that are battery operated (batteries are inserted easily through the bottom). However, a lot of these candles are made with 100% real wax and most have scents, so they’re completely realistic-seeming. On some of them you even have adjustable settings for light intensity on the bottom too, so you can create the perfect mood for any event.

Some candles I found on FlamelessCandles.net that I really like include the beeswax drip candle and swirl champagne candle.

These flameless candles have wicks and lighting that mimic the look of a real candle, but they are free of messes and accidents. They can be used outdoors and in buildings where open flame is not permitted. If you want to set a nice atmosphere for the holidays but you don’t want to worry, FlamelessCandles.net might just have what you are looking for!

The Power of Planning: Blogging Success

blog planning

I used to never be much of the type of blogger that planned things out (aka, the smart blogger). The only planning I ever did was write my posts the night before and timestamp them to publish the next morning. However, I never knew what I was going to write until I sat down at the computer. On really bad days, I wrote something that didn’t turn out to be the kind of quality I wanted, or I didn’t write anything at all.

If you are in the same boat I was or if you are struggling with figuring out what to write, then there’s one simple word: plan. If you plan, you’ll never be in a troubling situation with your blog ever again.

Step one: create a blog binder.

I highly recommended you get a new binder (no notebooks, you need to be able to move pages around) and don’t mix your blog business with your life or work business. Over time, your blog binder will grow and the point here is to be organized. So start out with a clean slate and don’t let things escalate to a mess.

Since we want to be organized, you might want to get some dividers for your binder so you can keep plans for separate aspects of your blog apart (content ideas, design ideas, etc.) However you want to make your binder is fine, as long as it works for you and your blog.

Step two: starting jotting down post ideas.

Today we’re mainly focusing on straightening out your content, so create a page in your blog binder where you can write down ideas for new articles. Whenever a thought enters your head, don’t discard it no matter what. Even if you don’t use the idea later, it’s still good to have titles you’ve thought up or good concepts for posts.

This way, whenever you are struggling with writer’s block, you aren’t sure what to write, or you are going to be away and have to write posts in advance, all you have to do is consult your trusty binder and there will always be a plethora of ideas you can use (as long as you use your binder properly, that is).

Step three: create a week-by-week plan.

If you’re like me and you’re not always sure what to write about when you sit down at the computer, a week-by-week plan is just what you need. Start a new paper for every week, and write down all the days of the week (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) Then flip back to your post ideas page and begin writing down what posts you are going to publish on what days.

If you have a good collection of ideas, you can know what you’re going to write about Monday though Sunday within half an hour. You can also work out to publish your best posts on the days you get the most traffic. When you plan ahead, you benefit and save time!

After you’ve got your content down and now you don’t go a day without posting (or, every other day is fine too if you don’t have as much time), you can begin working on other things. Use your binder to create to-do lists, design ideas, or lists of plugins you need to install. This blog binder is your way to be 100% organized, so use it to all of its advantage!

Ideas for things to include in your binder:

  • A list of things you must do that have deadlines (such as entering a certain giveaway before it’s over, etc.)
  • A list of things you must do that are timeless (entering blog carnivals, article marketing, etc.)
  • A list of plugins you need to install.
  • A list of blogs to comment on, to increase your exposure and interactivity within the blogging world.
  • A list of tweaks and ideas for you to implement on your blog’s design.
  • A list of sites you need to check out or things you need to check up on later when you have more time.

A well-run blog is a successful blog, and a well-run blog full of success can only be achieved with organized planning. So start your blog binder right now, and begin planning out what you’re going to write for the rest of the week. Don’t ever disappoint your readers or let your rankings fall again! Only losers don’t plan.

Why I’m Choosing To Remove DoFollow

Great Helpful Sites on the Internet

Back in July I announced that Super Blogging was a DoFollow blog, but now that is about to change. Today I have removed the DoFollow plugin from this site, and I am letting you know why.If you don’t know what DoFollow is, it is basically a plugin you can put on your Wordpress blog that removes the nofollow attribute from links in the comments section. Links marked as nofollow do not pass on PageRank and do not count with Google. If you use DoFollow, the links DO pass PageRank and DO count with Google. Links without the nofollow attribute help your rankings.

I originally added DoFollow to give a little back to those who commented on my site. They gave me a comment, and I gave them a real link. I didn’t want to do all the taking, and I really did appreciate all the comments from everyone.

And I still do! However, I have removed DoFollow now. This site has gotten a lot bigger than it was in July, and some posts receive a lot of comments and trackbacks. For every one of those, I lose some PageRank within that post. Since the newest PageRank update, I noticed my internal pages didn’t rank as well as they could have and I’m blaming a lot of that on DoFollow.

However, that’s not the only reason. Sometimes I notice people comment on this blog solely to get a free link, instead of providing valuable insight into the conversation. This isn’t what I had originally intended to happen.

DoFollow was a very nice experiment, and I’m glad I had implemented it. I used it to give a little back to my readers, and even though this blog won’t be DoFollow anymore, I will still give back to my readers. I do weekly roundups where I link to your articles, and if you wanted to be noticed and linked to just comment, or feel free to let me know if you’ve written something worthy! And apart from that, I will occasionally do free giveaways where you can get some advertising space on this blog without paying a cent (so keep your eyes peeled)!

I wrote this post about removing DoFollow because I did not want to mislead anyone. I’ve known blogs that wrote about being DoFollow, and then later on removed it without saying a word. While there is no obligation to be a DoFollow site, since the blogger is doing it out of the kindness of their heart, I still feel like all of you deserve to know.

So thank you, and I still do appreciate all of your comments just as much as ever. And like I said, you’ll still be getting free links when I do my roundups. This time, all you have to do for your link is work a little harder and write some nice content for me to read, which you should be doing anyway! ;)
