But now if you look to the right and scroll down, you’ll see I have the ScratchBack widget installed. So what is it and what’s the deal?
ScratchBack is basically in the terms of, I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine. What you do is add a small piece of code where you want the widget displayed, and people who like your site and want to donate to you or tip you for your efforts can purchase a link.
However, these links are nofollow, which means you are not technically selling ad space or even passing off link juice (so basically, you can’t get Google slapped for this at all). The whole concept is that if someone likes your site and feels like you deserve a tip, they can give it to you and get a link in your “TopSpots” in return.
My TopSpots widget is in the sidebar, and I have it set up so that there are five links for just $2.00 each. When you buy a link you are placed at the top of the list, and when others purchase links you are slowly bumped down to the bottom and eventually off of the list again. Using ScratchBack you could also select a set time for the links to be up, such as a week, but I thought the auto-bump was much more fun!
ScratchBack is a great site with a unique idea and a lot of potential. If you’re accepting donations on your site, trying using ScratchBack to get an attractive widget and a fun method of doing things!
Let me know what you think about it and if you recommend that it’s a keeper!

Sorry I can not see your scratchback widget? And their site seems to be down at the moment. Idea is cool though.
I’ve noticed that some of the widgets on your site overlap (FF 2.0.0.9). You might want to check this http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/webmaster-essentials-checklist
thanks for the info tay though I believe it won’t blend well with my design.
it’s a very cool idea indeed especially the nofollow thing.
“it’s a keeper” ermm… better see the results after a few days/weeks?
Thanks for sharing the site. I never knew about it
@Netvestor - Hm, I’m sorry. If they were out I do notice the site is back up now though! Also, thanks for pointing out that link to me. I’ll give it a look.
@Robinson Go - Surely you could find a way for it to blend with your design. They offer dozens of different widgets and looks and now, for a limited time while they’re in beta, you can submit your own design for free and then use it as well. Good luck!
@Ruchir - No problem, I’m already liking it a lot myself.
I see the widget now, I remember seeing it on quite a lot of blogs recently and I think it is a very nice concept.
I also see the widget and I have seen a lot of blogs using the same stuff. I am planning of using it in my blog as well . Anyway thanks for the link.
Oh I perfectly understand now how widget works. Anyway it seems that eventhough this site is of no follow but you can earned something if someone donates in you site or blog. Anyway I will keep this in mind.
