Happy 2008!
Now that we’ve covered the best posts of the past year and the fact that it’s important to set goals, I can actually share with you the resolutions that I promised to make. I’m sharing my goals to let my readers know and understand where I intend to take this blog, as well as the fact that making them public fuels my motivation and gives me an incentive to not give up. I plan to work pretty hard in 2008 and implement lots of new tactics and ideas, so here’s hoping that in another year’s time the amount of growth desired for this blog will be accomplished.
So as for my goals, I found it pretty hard to set exact goals with exact numbers and values. So instead of huge, specific goals I have set plenty of smaller resolutions that will lead me to completing the bigger ones. This way I can work in small steps and not be discouraged, and actually see progress happening before my eyes. I’ll also have a more realistic idea of what I need to work on on a daily basis.
My Goals
- Reach a four digit subscriber count. Which means at least 1,000 subscribers before the end of this year, but I’m not limiting myself to that! Click here to subscribe and help me get started on making this one come true.
- Guest blog at least once a month. I’ve had so many intentions in 2007 to guest blog on other sites, but I never got around to it. I’d like to change that this year by writing on another blog at least once a month. Please let me know if I can guest blog on your site!
- Learn how to make a Wordpress theme. I’m not good at all with coding, but I’ve always wanted to be able to make my own Wordpress theme. Sometime this year I intend to learn how.
- Make money with niche sites. I have several new ideas for niche blogs already planned out in my head, using several keywords I’d like to target. Using Amazon, Adsense, and other advertising programs, I want to start earning a better income doing this.
- Use my talents to do something different. Besides the content, there’s not much that really makes this blog to stand out and there’s nothing extremely unique I’m offering. During 2008, I want to use my talents to implement new features and more interesting posts.
- Building backlinks and increasing search engine rankings. This is a never-ending resolution, so I’ll never fully complete it. But this is something I definitely do need to work harder on, so I’ll be doing just that.
- Get into a 100% regular and complete posting schedule. I’ve got my posting schedule pretty much down, but there are still times when I’m not sure if there will be a post the next day or not. This should never happen, so I’m going to plan my blogging schedule even better and constantly have a few extra posts written up, and work on writing better quality posts as well.
- Work more on developing my communities. I’m going to try harder to build up my communities and friendships within StumbleUpon, BloggingZoom, MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, and the like.
- More networking, more commenting. Maintaining relationships with other bloggers is important to build traffic and generate links, as well as just keeping up a nice reputation and healthy site. It’s a win-win, so I’ll be doing more of this as well.
Currently, those are my goals. As you’ll see, a lot of them are just reminders of things I need to do more often or work harder on, but those things are what are going to help me achieve the ultimate goals that don’t even need to be mentioned: more traffic, more exposure, more money. If I do think of anymore goals I’d like to complete, I will update this list accordingly.
Thanks again to everyone who made 2007 a great year for this blog. I hope that in 2008 all of our sites and ventures will grow and see many successes - and not just in 2008, but all the years to come. Thank you for being a reader of Super Blogging!
