Three Free Ways to Build Dofollow Links

July 12, 2008

This is a guest post by Jason – Jason Pereira blogs at The University Kidgrab the feed!

When people first learn about link building as a part of search engine marketing (SEO), they run across many different offers from companies willing to get links to their websites for them, for a price. They also see high PageRank websites offering to sell links on their site on a per month basis, in order to essentially pass that PageRank onto your site, giving your site more authority in the search engines. While this is a viable method the get authority for your website or blog, it can get very expensive, and frankly, it’s out of the budget for most bloggers or beginning website owners who just bought hosting, a domain, and a website design. The good news is that there are ways to find dofollow links (ones that pass authroity onto your site, as opposed to nofollow links, which don’t). I am going to show you 4 easy ways to get dofollow links to your site.

1. Comment on Dofollow Blogs. One of the easiest way to get some authority back to your site and a good start to your link building campaigns is commenting on blogs that are dofollow. This is beneficial for a few reasons. First, like I said, it passes authority to your site. Secondly, it provides an opportunity for traffic, since the owner of the site you’re commenting on is likely to visit your site, and people reading that blog might possibly come check your blog or website out.

Here are a few good dofollow search engines and lists:

DoFollow Diver

Court’s D-list

NoDirectOn’s List

2. Submit Your Site to Social Media Sites with Dofollow. There are tons of social media sites out there. Digg and Stumbleupon are some of the most popular. But, not all social media sites are created equal. Yah, sites like Stumbleupon can bring you great traffic, but the links on their site to your site are useless for search engine optimization. You need to find and submit your blog posts or your site’s pages to some dofollow social media sites in order to not only get link authority, but also possibly some traffic.

The following are some dofollow social media sites you should use:

3. Lastly, and arguably the best place for building traffic (in addition to the dofollow links) is to use forums that allow you to have a dofollow signature. if you can find a forum that is related to your site that allows you to have a dofollow link in your signature, it can be huge, because each post that you make not only gives you a backlink to your site (via the signature) but also is a marketing tool for your site. If your site is about the Nintendo Wii, and you are active in a Nintendo Wii forum with dofollow signature links, then everytime that you post, people have an opportunity to see your link in the signature, and possibly go to your site. If not, you still get the backlinks regardless, and since it’s a related site, it counts more than just a regular dofollow link (though those are important also).

Here are some lists of dofollow forums:

SP’s List

Hope these sites help you out in the search for dofollow links!

Handy reference post, mate. Thanks for writing it. I take it you don’t agree with the popular idea that nofollowing stops spam? Certainly haven’t seen anything that proves this idea personally.

Well i have been looking for a hosting plan but the only problem is i don’t really have a credit card ! If you join entrecard i would give 2000 credits to you well its all i have atm. I’ve been an Entrecard member for a long time. It has brought me traffic and exposed new people to me and vice versa, but I’m trying something new – that’s what the lone 125×125 ad in the sidebar is. Please click the link below it to read, I won’t be adding Entrecard back up anytime soon I’m afraid. Thanks though.

As for your other comment, Market Leverage is advertising here on Super Blogging – meaning they paid to have those 125×125 banners placed, and sent me them to put up.

Blog commenting is a lot of fun and if by doing so it helps increase the number of visitors to my own blog, then that’s wonderful!

All types of backlinks are important. Internal links are great. Many posts you write may get overlooked, having internal links helps readers find more information inside your site.

Cheers for the post… dofollow diver is great. I am consodering making my blog dofollow to get some commentors over and maybe even some new readers…. who knows if it works :)

As for forums you have to find ones you like otherwise it’s hard to take part.. but it is worthwhile.

I think the point you made about matching forums to your site is imprtant. If your posts are quality you’ll generate some real traffic.

I didn’t even know there were do-follow forums! The fact that you can carry on a conversation online while producing juice for your website amazes me.

Tanner, many forums let you drop a link in your signature without a nofollow on it. Of course, Google discounts these links pretty significantly plus, it is a well known and highly used technique(esp on webmaster forums), but still, it’s worth doing IMO.

Got something to say?
