Announcing the Winner of the Guest Posting Contest

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

You might remember the recent guest posting contest here at Super Blogging. With this contest I basically opened up the chance for readers to write their own articles to be featured on this blog, and I also offered a prize for the winner of the contest. Let’s take a look at who entered and with what guest posts:

Bending the Web: Become Popular in 2 Months by Robojiannis.
5 Ways To Be A More Unique Blogger by PabloPabla.
Why There’s Nothing Wrong With A Little Bit Of Controversy by Jason Pereira.

Those were all fantastic posts and I’m really honored to have all of them here - however, there can only be one winner. To figure out who the winner is, we’re going to look at the post that brought in the most traffic (which is determined by Google Analytics).

And The Winner Is…

Robojiannis, with Bending the Web: Become Popular in 2 Months! This post brought in the most traffic by far and was also one of the most popular ones for the month here at Super Blogging. And it definitely deserves those titles, being one of the most detailed and lengthiest posts I have ever seen. It’s a true example of an amazing article. Thanks Robojiannis for sharing it with us!

Then there is, of course, your prize for winning the guest posting contest. I promised a sitewide 125×125 banner and link for one month, so if you will contact me with the information for both of those things, I’ll get your ads up right away! Thanks again for sharing your wonderful writing talents and knowledge here at Super Blogging, I really appreciate it!

And also a huge thank you to Pablo and Jason. You both have excellent blogs and I’m proud to have a little piece of your talent here.

Upcoming Contests…

Of course, this is not the only contest Super Blogging is going to be seeing! If you haven’t noticed, there are all kinds of huge contests around lately such as The Ultimate Blog Contest, The $8,907.83 Contest, the It’s Almost Summer Contest, and The Blog Bash Contest. I’ve had in mind to organize a contest like those for a couple months, but never got around to it. However, I’m not dropping that idea, and even if it takes a little while, it’s still going to happen! If you’d like to sponsor an upcoming HUGE Super Blogging contest, please contact me, or just subscribe to Super Blogging so you won’t miss it when it occurs!

Also, apart from a big contest, there will also be smaller ones like this one. I’d like everyone to have a chance to participate in something, so keep your eyes peeled for the next mini-competition or large contest. Thanks everyone!

Super Blogging Sports a New Look!

newlook.png I’ve been waiting to share this with you, my readers, for a long while now and I’m really excited that I finally get to! I’ve been hinting at a lot of surprises lately, which have included things like the guest posting competition, but the biggest thing I meant was this - that Super Blogging is now sporting a new look!

The design is the popular Revolution News Theme, which I have drooled over ever since I first laid eyes on it. However, I never would have this gorgeous theme for my blog if it weren’t for The Blog Entrepreneur’s contest, where the two winners got a Revolution theme of their choice.

Guest Blog on SuperBloggingTips.com

You heard right, Super Blogging is taking in guest posters! This is a rare chance for you to get traffic and a lot more by exposing yourself to a whole new audience and all of our visitors and RSS subscribers. There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain, and apart from the exposure, there’s even a small prize - read on.

First of all, there are a few rules. The post should be at least 300 words long, and it can contain images as long as you don’t violate copyright with those, provide credit where necessary, and as long as they look okay with the design. Also, you should write up an ‘about the author’ section at the top or bottom of the post that’s no more than a few sentences long and contains a link to your blog (and RSS feed if you like) to give yourself credit and a backlink. Obviously, the topic of the article you write should relate to this blog so just use your common sense and imagination!

Now you might ask how this is going to benefit YOU. Guest posting is an amazing thing to do to grow your blog, and one of my New Year blogging resolutions includes guest writing for another blog at least once a month. By doing this, not only do you expose yourself to that blog’s entire audience and a whole bunch of new faces, but it helps grow your blog and build your brand. The more you guest post, the more people will start seeing you all over the place and become interested in you and trust you. Guest blogging is one of the best ways to get yourself out there, increase your traffic, and grow your blog.

Of course, I did mention that there is a PRIZE as well, if the above reasons aren’t enough. I’m giving away away a 125×125 advertising spot for one month and a sitewide link at the top of the Recommended Sites section for a month as well (and you can flip/sell those spots to profit even more if you like). This is a great and free advertising opportunity, and one you should most definitely take advantage of.

But how you can you win that prize? The guest author that sends the most traffic (as long as the traffic won’t harm this blog or falsely influence results) to their post wins the month’s worth of banner and link advertising. You have until March 14 to send me your article and drive your traffic to it, and after March 14 the contest will be closed and winners determined.

So are you interested in guest posting here at Super Blogging? Like said above, there’s nothing to lose and much to gain. You can send your article to me through my contact page or email it to tay [at] superbloggingtips [dot] com - make sure you send it complete with its coding. Good luck and have fun with it. I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with, and I’m pretty excited!

Please subscribe to Super Blogging so you don’t miss out on the fantastic guest posts and advice to come - I’m sure this’ll be great!

Any guest post I feel is inappropriate for this blog can be rejected, whether it’s off topic or bad quality. However, I’m pretty lenient and don’t expect that to happen.

2008 New Year Resolutions

Happy 2008!

Now that we’ve covered the best posts of the past year and the fact that it’s important to set goals, I can actually share with you the resolutions that I promised to make. I’m sharing my goals to let my readers know and understand where I intend to take this blog, as well as the fact that making them public fuels my motivation and gives me an incentive to not give up. I plan to work pretty hard in 2008 and implement lots of new tactics and ideas, so here’s hoping that in another year’s time the amount of growth desired for this blog will be accomplished.

So as for my goals, I found it pretty hard to set exact goals with exact numbers and values. So instead of huge, specific goals I have set plenty of smaller resolutions that will lead me to completing the bigger ones. This way I can work in small steps and not be discouraged, and actually see progress happening before my eyes. I’ll also have a more realistic idea of what I need to work on on a daily basis.

My Goals

  • Reach a four digit subscriber count. Which means at least 1,000 subscribers before the end of this year, but I’m not limiting myself to that! Click here to subscribe and help me get started on making this one come true.
  • Guest blog at least once a month. I’ve had so many intentions in 2007 to guest blog on other sites, but I never got around to it. I’d like to change that this year by writing on another blog at least once a month. Please let me know if I can guest blog on your site!
  • Learn how to make a Wordpress theme. I’m not good at all with coding, but I’ve always wanted to be able to make my own Wordpress theme. Sometime this year I intend to learn how.
  • Make money with niche sites. I have several new ideas for niche blogs already planned out in my head, using several keywords I’d like to target. Using Amazon, Adsense, and other advertising programs, I want to start earning a better income doing this.
  • Use my talents to do something different. Besides the content, there’s not much that really makes this blog to stand out and there’s nothing extremely unique I’m offering. During 2008, I want to use my talents to implement new features and more interesting posts.
  • Building backlinks and increasing search engine rankings. This is a never-ending resolution, so I’ll never fully complete it. But this is something I definitely do need to work harder on, so I’ll be doing just that.
  • Get into a 100% regular and complete posting schedule. I’ve got my posting schedule pretty much down, but there are still times when I’m not sure if there will be a post the next day or not. This should never happen, so I’m going to plan my blogging schedule even better and constantly have a few extra posts written up, and work on writing better quality posts as well.
  • Work more on developing my communities. I’m going to try harder to build up my communities and friendships within StumbleUpon, BloggingZoom, MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, and the like.
  • More networking, more commenting. Maintaining relationships with other bloggers is important to build traffic and generate links, as well as just keeping up a nice reputation and healthy site. It’s a win-win, so I’ll be doing more of this as well.

Currently, those are my goals. As you’ll see, a lot of them are just reminders of things I need to do more often or work harder on, but those things are what are going to help me achieve the ultimate goals that don’t even need to be mentioned: more traffic, more exposure, more money. If I do think of anymore goals I’d like to complete, I will update this list accordingly.

Thanks again to everyone who made 2007 a great year for this blog. I hope that in 2008 all of our sites and ventures will grow and see many successes - and not just in 2008, but all the years to come. Thank you for being a reader of Super Blogging!
